About this event
The Madeline Island Marathon and Half Marathon starts and finishes at Joni's Beach in La Pointe, Wisconsin, a few blocks from the ferry landing on Madeline Island, the largest of Lake Superior's Apostle Islands. The island is a 25-minute ferry ride from Bayfield. Both courses are USATF-certified loops with a short out-and-back, mainly paved with 3 to 4 miles of gravel, winding through forest and along the lakeshore. The full is a Boston Qualifier. Capped at 125 for the full and 325 for the half, so it stays uncrowded. Aid stations roughly every 2 to 3 miles. Seven hour time limit.
